Spanish broadcaster launches 4K DVB-T2 test channel
Spanish broadcaster RTVE, technology supplier Televes and radio operator Cellmex will launch a 4K digital terrestrial television (DTT) test channel in Santiago de Compostela, northern Spain.
The channel will broadcast a documentary produced by RTVE in San Diego and distributed by Cellnex. The channel will use DVB-T2 standard for a 6-month broadcast test.
Pere Vila, digital director of RTVE, said that at present, about 4% to 5% of Spanish households have 4K TVs, and it is expected that the proportion will increase to 50% "in the next five to six years".
Google Joins Streaming Video Alliance
The Streaming Media Video Alliance (SVA) was established at the end of 2014 to establish standards and best use cases for video streaming. Recently, Google's joining has added weight to it.
At the fourth annual meeting of SVA held by Viacom this week, Google, a technology giant with two streaming media services, YouTube and YouTube TV, became a new member of the alliance. In addition, Google is also the main force behind the free next generation coding AV1 focusing on OTT video apps and services.
At the same time, Videastream has also become a new member of SVA. Other members of the alliance include Adobe, Amazon Web Service, Arris, Comcast, NBCU, Sky, Verizon, Nokia, etc. At present, Netflix has not joined this alliance.
Hulu added live TV program list
Hulu recently announced that it will add live TV programs and destinations, and support Xbox One, Apple TV, Fire TV, Switch and other devices.
Live TV program list can make it easier for the audience to know what to play next, and also more convenient to switch channels. The audience can also record the programs being played or to be played directly through the program list to customize the personalized live TV program list.
In addition, a "lightning sign" will be added on the right side of the home page sign, allowing viewers to directly switch to the live channel they most often watch.
