Malaysia postpones AD conversion period

Although about 85% of the audience has met the requirements for digital TV reception, Malaysia has decided to postpone the closing of analog TV signals.

The government said that this is to provide more time for all parties to prepare a fully digital broadcasting environment, whether broadcasters or ordinary people.

Malaysia originally planned to close analog TV broadcasting on June 30.

Since Malaysia is bordered by Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, the government has also considered the consistency of its initiatives with neighbouring countries. The plans of neighbouring countries will also have an impact on the use of spectrum and channels in Malaysia's border areas.

For example, Singapore has postponed the analog-to-digital conversion period from December 31, 2017 to December 31, 2018.
